Nashvillians Are All Over the Tee-Vee Tubes Again

It's time to play "Guess where Guy Fieri Went" during his recent Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives tour of Middle Tennessee. Every month, Food Network sends out a summary of his upcoming episodes with only vaguely concealed clues that should be pretty transparent to locals.

On Monday, Dec. 23, at 9 p.m., the "Family Time" episode of DDD will premiere on Food Network. Let's hear your guesses at these easy clues:

In Nashville, a gourmet food truck with unique versions of grilled cheese; in the Sylvan Park area of Nashville, a Italian spot with namesake lasagna and lamb shanks; in Kansas City, Mo., chili pepper wontons and firebird chicken.

Bonus points if you can identify the KC restaurant...

On Monday, Dec. 30, at 9 p.m., "Soup, Salad and Seafood" makes its debut on the network. It looks like Guy has some "T for Missouri, T for Tennessee" theme going on with another combo of Kansas City and our backyard. (Nobody ever claimed Fieri was any sort of geographic scholar.)

This trip, Guy dives into all kinds of classic comfort foods. In Kansas City, Mo., a real deal chef serves up his dressed-up version of comfort food with dishes like chicken pot pie and steamed mussels. In Franklin, Tenn., a southern spot cranks out comfort food favorites like jambalaya, char-grilled oysters and the regional favorite, hot chicken. Also in Nashville, a food truck turned deli keeps it funky with all kinds of homemade soups, salads and even some graffiti.

Food truck turned deli? Hmm ... I know the answer, but this one is a little more obscure. We welcome your guesses in the comments.

Meanwhile, I totally dropped the ball on the news that Nashville's own Kristen Gregory of Firefly Grille won her episode of the Food Network show Chopped, which was titled "No Pain, No Shame."

Chef Gregory bested three other competitors to create palatable dishes from ingredients such as smoked catfish, ricotta salata, giant jawbreakers, watermelon soda, lamb tagine, miso paste, croissant doughnuts, zucchini blossoms, blueberry scones, ginger preserves, rosemary and gjetost cheese. That's some real talent.

For winning, Chef Gregory received $10,000, which she said will go toward her dream of owning her own restaurant. There don't seem to be any future airings of this episode scheduled any time soon, but it is available on iTunes. I don't want to mess with any non-disclosure agreements, but I have it on very good authority that at least four other chefs whose names you've seen frequently on Bites also traveled to New York to film future episodes.

Finally, my buddy Carey Bringle might not want me to mention this, but the Peg Leg Porker's Chopped episode "Grill Masters: Part Two" re-airs on Thursday, Dec. 26, at 6 p.m. on Food Network. So follow this guy on Twitter and sit back to watch the fun.
