This week's open thread provides a little food for thought. (Zing!) The 25th annual Southern Festival of Books
starts today, and per usual, shines a light on quite a few food writers, so we figured we'd create a little schedule of some of the gastronomic highlights:
In a Snap! Tasty Southern Recipes You Can Make in 5, 10, 15, or 30 Minutes
1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 (today), at Legislative Plaza, Room 29
The Cultures of Cuisine: The Flavors of Soul Food & of the Street
2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 (today), at Nashville Public Library, Special Collections Room
Mastering the Art of Southern Cooking
10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Legislative Plaza, Room 12
Biscuits, Bourbon, Peaches, and Tomatoes: Classic Recipes
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Legislative Plaza, Room 12
If you've never been, the Southern Festival of Books is a fabulous event, and Nashville is exceptionally lucky to get to host it. Hats off to the folks at Humanities Tennessee for all their hard work.
If you check out any of these sessions, feel free to report back on the comment thread. And what else is on your mind this week?
