Real craft brew aficionados appreciate the chance to learn more from the brewers without worrying about crushing crowds or missing out on a favorite beer that might be tapped out within the first 30 minutes of the fest. The atmosphere at the Winter Warmer is particularly cozy, because Sevier Park doesn't hold that many people and folks are usually snugged up next to each other and bundled in winter clothes to keep warm.
Winter Warmer is also known for offering up many beers that are very rare, and sometimes only available at that one day event, so the opportunities are unique and fleeting. For these reasons, Winter Warmer is extremely popular and sold out last year in less than twenty minutes of online sales.
This year, organizers are splitting up the ticket distribution over two days to give an opportunity for fans who might not have access or time to make an Internet purchase during a work day. (Damn firewalls!) Today is the big day for the first allocation to go on sale at 9 a.m. sharp at the event website. Another block of tickets will be released tomorrow, Oct. 12, at 8 a.m. (Note that's an hour earlier than today.)
Tickets are $60 for a regular ticket and $75 for a special limited number of "Craft Brewed Tickets" that include a custom 12 South Winter Warmer and Craft Brewed growler, a growler fill at Craft Brewed after the festival, as well as access to the brewery afterparty at Craft Brewed immediately following the Winter Warmer.
The event will run from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, and they'll begin scanning tickets at 11 a.m. so you can crash the gates right at noon. For more details, a helpful FAQ and a list of the participating breweries, check out the official 12 South Winter Warmer website. Ready, set, GO!
