As I told you back in July, this particular festival will feature only Tennessee craft brews, with more than 50 beers available for your sampling pleasure. The event is presented by Edley's Bar-B-Que, Rhizome Productions and the Tennessee Craft Brewers Guild, and I have to say that it looks like they've really got a nice event planned for a first-time festival.
Three free shuttles will transport attendees from the East Nashville Edley's, 12South Edley's, Riverfront Park and from in front of the Richland Library, so you don't even have to worry about parking or getting to and from the Fairgrounds during the Tennessee State Fair. (I have to admit I didn't even know the fair was starting this weekend.) You do need to visit the event website to register for your spot on the shuttles. Admission is $40 and includes access to the Tennessee State Fair, so head on over and enjoy some great brews in the infield of the Fairgrounds Speedway.
Another 12South eatery is also planning a big beer festival next month. The third annual MAFIAoZA’S 12South Nashville Beer Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Public Square Park in front of the Metro Courthouse. Tickets are $35 and include unlimited tastings of 100-plus beers, a commemorative sampler glass and food provided by seven food vendors, premium cigars, spirits provided by Fireball Whisky, Whisper Creek and more. VIP tickets are $50 and include beer, food, and private access to the towers on the lawn. (Which you know you've always wanted to go up in!) Designated Driver tickets are $15. The festival benefits the Nashville Humane Association, so support them by getting your tickets at the event website.
The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium downtown is planning their fourth annual BeerFeast for Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Saucer probably doesn't get enough credit for being ahead of the curve in town with regard to their support for craft beers. They have pulled more pints of hard to find beers over the past decade than any other place I can think of. Here are all the details of the event:
Beerfeast 2013 will be held under a big tent located in front of Flying Saucer Nashville's downtown location. The festival will feature be more than 40 breweries and 60 different craft beers carefully selected by Flying Saucer's own resident beer guru. In addition, very rare and limited-release beers will be tapped one at a time throughout the day. I can't forget to mention — there will be live music and a DJ providing entertainment again this year as well as local food trucks providing a variety of delicious food for sale to attendees.
Those interested can purchase tickets at Flying Saucer or online at BeerFeast2013.com. Ticket purchase includes admission to the festival; a commemorative 2013 BeerFest tasting glass; and a tasting card good for 12 samples of any of the festival beers. A very limited number of VIP tickets are also available for purchase — online only — prior to the festival. The VIP tickets include a tasting card and glass; admission to the festival one hour prior to general public; food vouchers redeemable at any of the festival food trucks; a BeerFeast T-shirt; and a pair of BeerFeast sunglasses. There will also be special access to the VIP-only line for the rare-beer tappings held throughout the day. Designated driver tickets are also available, which include admission to the festival and complimentary soft drinks. All attendees must be 21 and older.
The folks at the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium are working on a contest to give away a couple of passes to the event to a lucky Bites reader, so keep your eyes peeled in the space for more details.
