As the fabulous Kay West describe the duties of a host, basically, all you have to do is throw a party where somebody else cooks and cleans up. You know you like to eat and that you have plenty of friends who do too. So why not eat out together and donate part of your check to help serve Nashville's HIV-affected community?
Thanks to the advent of Open Table and Evites, it's easier than ever to invite friends to join you for a meal at your favorite restaurant. Take a look at the ever-growing list of participants and see if there are any that you'd like to spend a few hours in. Even if a host is already assigned, often DOFL will add an extra host to make sure the house is filled. Or if you're like me, just let the staff assign you one and perhaps introduce your friends to a new place.
The way I look at it, any restaurant that is generous enough to participate is worthy of a visit, so bring 'em on. DOFL is holding a reception for all hosts and prospective hosts at their kick-off party at the new Rumours 12th and Division on Monday night from 5:30 until 7:30. In addition to some great food and drink, you'll receive a short fun training session on how to maximize your invite list and your responsibilities as a host. If you'd like to attend, just RSVP to Chris McCune at cmccune@nashvillecares.org and indicate any preferences as to which restaurant you'd like to host.
Even if you can't make it on Monday night, feel free to email Chris and we'll make sure you get trained. Trust me. It's a whole lotta fun! Come join us.
