News Flyte's Matt Lackey and Roderick Bailey of The Silly Goose Nominated as 'The People's Best New Chef' by Food & Wine — So VOTE!

Now in its third year, Food & Wine magazine's "The People’s Best New Chef" program is an offshoot of their Best New Chefs program, which honors talented up-and-coming innovators who have run their own kitchens for five years or less. This year two Nashville chefs have been nominated for the popular vote division, which divides 100 chefs into 10 regions. In the Southeast region, Chef Matt Lackey of Flyte was recognized for having "combined his farm-kid background with degrees from two culinary institutions to become a champion in the South’s local-ingredient movement." At only 27, Lackey has earned quite a reputation as a creative chef and kitchen manager.

It's also great to see that Roderick Bailey is getting noticed for his work at The Silly Goose. According to his official nomination at the voting site, he was selected for "his unwavering dedication to high-quality ingredients and his knack for combining them in unexpected ways." Bailey prepared the vegetarian options at the Nashville Wine Auction's Pairings dinner I attended last weekend, and several people commented that the carnivores in the audience might have missed out on the best food.

The popular voting begins today and finishes up Monday, March 18, so head to the official online poll and vote early and often for your local favorites. Best of luck to both candidates!
