Grand Cru has issued several tasting alerts for Bites readers.
Today, Feb. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. , they’ll be taking customers on a tour of Spain and Portugal as they taste new favorites from the region. First, they’ll be pulling the cork on some Volteo Garnacha, a bright wine with strong notes of red berries. Then they’ll pop a top on Oscar’s Red from the Douro region for an exceptionally food-friendly choice.
On Saturday from 3 to 4:30 p.m., they’ll be tasting Trianon Tequila at the Cru, so that should take the edge off of your post-Valentine’s discounted candy shopping excursion.
Also, if you don’t make it to Fabrizio Iuli’s dinner on Feb. 20, he’ll be stopping by Grand Cru early that evening to taste through and talk about his selection of wines.
Finally, Woodland Wine Merchant will be trialing two old-school Italian reds tomorrow at a drop-in tasting from 3 to 5 p.m. Enjoy sips of the 2011 Montesecondo "IGT Rosso Toscano" and 2007 Azienda Agricola la Torre "Rosso di Montalcino" and take home a bottle or two of each at really reasonable prices. You’ll be glad you did.
