An email promises this year's edition — replete with the customary eight-course meal and between-tables lion dance — will be "more magnificent than ever," which, given how magnificent it's been in the past, sounds like a pretty high bar to set. Not that I doubt CAAN or the Wild Ginger kitchen for a second — this is one of my most savored meals, and I look forward to it every year the way some people look forward to ... things they also enjoy.
In any case, tickets for the Year of the Snake party are on sale now for $85 each or $675 for a table of eight. Prices go up after Feb. 1 ($95/$750), so it behooves you to order in advance. (If you'd rather not pay the online service fee, you can mail your check, along with your name, email address and phone number, to CAAN, P.O. Box 120025, Nashville, Tenn., 37212.)
