If one of your New Year's resolutions was to clean out the pantry, then you're probably actually getting around to it about now. If during the decluttering process, you discovered that copy of Fifty Shades that you were too embarrassed to return to the library for fear of running into your pastor's wife, then you may just be in luck.

The Nashville Public Library has kicked off their annual "Food for Fines" program which runs now through Jan. 20. They will forgive $1 in overdue fines for each can or package of food that you bring into any of their branches. They could especially use peanut butter, canned chicken or tuna, canned vegetables or fruit, canned soups, cereal and pasta. Please don't try to unload anything that is past the expiration date, and they would prefer not to accept any glass containers since they have to store the food and don't want to deal with breakage issues.

All collected food will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank, so do a good deed and help stop the Hunger Games. No seriously, stop it before they release the second movie.
