First up, D-Mase (as we long-suffering football fans remember him). This Monday, Dec, 10 from 7:30 to 10 p.m., he'll be hosting “Derrick Mason & Friends — Homecoming 2012" at Mafiaoza's Pizzeria in 12South. According to the official invitation:
Mason will be joined by former and current Titans players, along with special celebrity guests, for an evening of fun, fabulous food, and football while raising money to benefit MAFIAoZA'S "Godfather Fund" at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and InterFACE Ministries.
Confirmed former and current players so far include: Eddie George, Kevin Dyson, Keith Bulluck, Brad Hopkins, Erron Kinney, Chris Sanders, Neil O’Donnell, Lance Schulters, Ken Amato, Zach Piller, Joey Kent; Brett Kern, Michael Griffin, Rob Bironas, Will Witherspoon and Lavelle Hawkins. More players will be added in the coming days.
Players will serve the guests, plus take part in dough tossing contests and pizza making competitions. Additionally, Derrick will lead question/answer sessions throughout the night with the fan-favorites that will be on hand. Discussions will include favorite games and memorable moments, along with taking questions from fans.
The celebrities will also pose for pictures and sign autographs, while guests have the opportunity to bid on some unique and priceless silent auction memorabilia. Many items will be personally donated by the star participants themselves.
Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite team jerseys or blue to show their Titans' pride. Tickets are $75 for adults and $25 for kids 14 and under. Head here to buy your tickets.
As for the other Mason's, Loews has already begun extensive renovation on their main restaurant, which was creatively named "EAT."
Planned for completion sometime next May, the new restaurant will be called "Mason's" after the ubiquitous canning tool. The plan is for a Southern brasserie-style restaurant featuring old-school Southern dishes with classical French techniques.
The new Mason Bar will have live music and feel like a rustic, public house-style bar. The decor will feature a chandelier made from Mason jars and a nine-screen media wall for travelers and locals to catch up on news and watch their favorite sports. Patrons will be able to enjoy beer, wine and spirits served in Mason jars while they pass time at the bar.
