The folks over at Good Food for Good People
have launched a campaign to fund the building of The Carrot Academy’s teaching kitchen. The mission of The Carrot Academy
is help people become connected to their community and the community’s food system through a variety of programs, including community farms. The teaching kitchen is located in their warehouse and winter farmers market space, in what most of us call the "Love Building” between Charlotte Avenue and I-40 on Alabama Avenue in West Nashville. It will be home to a variety of events, such as hosting school groups (including home-schoolers), with a focus on educating people on how to cook and eat local, fresh and healthy.
The initiative is being headed executive director Jilah Kalil, who is joining up with other academy board members to host their first fundraising event tomorrow night, Dec. 6 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event will be hosted in the kitchen space to acquaint people with the academy and its boosters.
Tickets are $55 per person or $100 per couple, which includes wine and hors d’oeuvres and can be purchased on the event’s website. If you’re unable to attend, you can also make a donation on the site.
