Last year, Rhizome Production's 12South Winter Warmer beer tasting event sold out in less than four hours. That's pretty remarkable when you consider that it was a first-time event and that it promised to be chilly event of outdoor beer drinking in December. But when you realize that Matt Leff, the man behind Rhizome, is the organizer of the event, it's no surprise that the Winter Warmer is so popular. If the Scene's slideshow from last year is any indication, it sure looked like fun.

Leff promises to limit tickets to 1,000, so attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the more than 30 breweries who will be showcasing their wares. The event is for ages 21 and up, with tickets costing $55, along with designated driver passes available for $20. Gates will open at 11 a.m., and the event ends at 4 p.m. They will begin scanning tickets at 10 a.m. if you want to arrive early to avoid the wait.

The event benefits "The Workshop," a cooperative venture between Halcyon Bike Shop and the Oasis Center to train underprivileged young people in bicycle maintenance and safety. Tickets go on sale at the event website this Friday at 9 a.m. Central, so don't be late or you'll be out in the cold while everyone else is enjoying the 12South Winter Warmer at Sevier Park.
