News broke yesterday that James Beard award-winning chef Sean Brock (who dazzled the diners of Nashville before heading to Charleston, S.C.) is bringing the latest outpost of his hugely successful Husk Restaurant to our fair city. Husk, which was named No. 1 on the list of best new restaurants in America by Bon Appetit magazine in 2011, is known for its dedication to farm-to-table cuisine crafted using all Southern ingredients.

Many a Nashville gourmet has booked a Southwest ticket to Charleston just to dine at the original, but now all we'll have to do is make a reservation for the new location, going into the previous home of Andrew Chadwick's at 37 Rutledge St. Plans are to open the new Husk in March, in time for the impending debut of the new Music City Center.

Brock will maintain his home in Charleston, but the chef rumor mill is already cranking up as to who might take the head toque position running the kitchen at the Nashville Husk. Whoever it ends up being, Nashvillians can expect a major addition to the local dining scene. Brock ran the kitchen at the Capitol Grille in the Hermitage Hotel before setting off for the Holy City, and he has many friends here in town (including the distinguished current Capitol Grille chef Tyler Brown, who worked under Brock), so Nashville was a logical next addition to the Neighborhood Dining Group empire.

Brock promises the same dedication to local ingredients and the superior caliber of customer service that has made Husk so beloved, and you can be sure that he will be welcomed here in the Music City. If nothing else, our city's allocation on Pappy Van Winkle had better get a big bump!
