The Skillery EXPO will be held at the Emma offices at 9 Lea Ave., the renovated site of the old trolley barns overlooking the Cumberland River. This pop-up workshop series will feature Nashville artisans, entrepreneurs and experts leading short one-hour workshops. Another benefit is that these classes will be really inexpensive, only $10 apiece for the three foodie classes.
The sessions that might be of particular interest to Bites readers are:
An Introduction to Specialty Coffee with Sean Stewart of Beve Mobile Coffee at 9 a.m.
Delicious Lighting with Kyle Dreier, at 10 a.m.
An Introduction to Backyard Chickens with Jesse Alvey at noon
I can't think of a better way to kick off a day of learning than with some delicious coffee, and I know plenty of food bloggers (present company definitely included) who could use some help with their food photography. Backyard chickens are still a hot topic, and I imagine some folks who have jumped into the coop loop lately probably have questions that need answers.
The non-food classes will cover such interesting topics as container gardening, juggling and bicycle maintenance, so even if you're not a foodie/foodist there may be something to interest you.
You can register for the classes at www.theskillery.com. Carve out some time Oct. 20 for a little back-to-school fun!
