Humanities Tennessee is bringing the 24th edition of the Southern Festival of Books back to downtown this weekend, and as part of the roster of about 250 Southern authors, the organizers have put together quite a busy schedule of food-related readings and panels. Among the visiting authors are Southern Living editor Rebecca Lang, Top Chef finalist Kevin Gillespie, and the arbiter of most things Southern and delicious, John T. Edge, director of the Southern Foodways Alliance.

John T.'s latest book is The Truck Food Cookbook: 150 Recipes and Ramblings from America's Best Restaurants on Wheels, and there will be plenty of mobile food for him to check out. Trucks confirmed to be lined up down Charlotte Avenue to feed the teeming throng of 20,000-plus that is expected include Biscuit Love, Yayo’s O.M.G., Deg Thai and Slow & Low BBQ. Longtime festival favorite Bolton’s Spicy Chicken & Fish will also be selling their wares for those who seek some fiery food.

I'm really looking forward to my panel with the Knipples, who Nicki first told you about earlier this year when she reviewed their excellent book The World in a Skillet. With an agenda this packed, you might want to take advantage of the festival's handy-dandy feature where you can select your favorite sessions and customize your own schedule. Wear comfortable shoes, because you'll probably be running around to see everyone you want.
