If you're a fan of the show, you know there is a surprising amount of drama involved in cooking meat for a panel of judges. As with all competitive barbecue, trying to time when to have your smoked meat ready for the judges after 12 to 14 hours of cooking is like throwing a dart at a target in Panama City from your car as soon as you hit I-65.
You're also invited to bring a folding lawn chair to enjoy an entire day's worth of music on two stages. Here's the music schedule:
11:00 Lorna Flowers/Anthony Corder (Acoustic)
11:30 Clinton Gregory (Band Performance)
12:10 Kalisa Ewing/Bernie Nelson (Acoustic)
12:40 Mary-Grace Williams (Acoustic)
1:20 Lindsey Harding/Goose Gossett/Melissa Bollea (Acoustic)
1:50 Crawford Crossing (Band Performance)
2:30 Smithfield/Sarah Montgomery (Acoustic)
3:00 Preston Johnson (Band Performance)
4:20 Delta Joe Sanders /Billy Joe Walker (Acoustic)
4:50 Ty Brown (Band Performance)
5:45 Drew Smith/Randall Clay/John Milstead (Acoustic)
6:15 The Goats of Kudzu featuring Eric Heatherly
They'll be selling samples of the wings (usually 1-2 wings) for $1, so you'll get to eat the same food that the judges are. Plus there will be food and drink vendors in case you want to fill up on something other than wings.
Add in a Kid's Corner, a silent auction, a wing-eating contest and the fact that the proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville and it sure sounds like a great day of fun. Tickets are $10 at the gate or $7.50 at the Ronald McDonald House or any local Mapco location.
