Matt Leff, the impetus behind Rhizome Productions who has brought some of Nashville's most successful drink festivals, dropped Bites a line to remind you all that tickets are still on sale for the inaugural Nashville Whiskey Festival, coming up Sept. 20-22. While admittedly the tickets to the VIP event on Thursday night are pretty pricey, this is keeping with Rhizome's philosophy of limiting the crowds at their tasting events so that attendees actually have access to the exhibitors to discuss and learn about their products. If you're looking for a swill-fest, there are plenty of other boozy tasting events during the year.

Besides, Friday night's event recognizing the "Women of Whiskey" is a bargain at only $40 per ticket and Saturday afternoon's grand tasting has several different pricing levels depending on your desired level of access. If Leff, Rhizome and Midtown Wine and Spirits are involved in the organization, you can bet that it will be a first-class event.

Coming up later in the year is Rhizome's second annual 12South Winter Warmer in Sevier Park scheduled for Dec. 1. A limited number of tickets will go on sale on Oct. 26 for what from all accounts was one of the top beer events in town last season. Mark your calendar and check out the festival website for tickets late next month.
