French chef Laurent Gras has an unquestionable cooking resume with three Michelin stars earned over a more than 20-year career cooking at three renowned restaurants. So any cookbook he released would probably draw plenty of interest. But his new release Laurent Gras: My Provenceis exciting for more than just the recipes inside.
This innovative new digital cookbook features 40 of the chef's favorite recipes from his native Côte d'Azur region, but in a unique HTML5 format designed for use on your home PC or an iPad. The recipes are hyperlinked to shopping lists, technique demonstrations in video or slideshow formats and even an interactive community where you can discuss your experiences cooking the recipes with other owners of the ebook.
Gras contribute the normal commentary about the background of each dish. but the opportunity to learn techniques and how he organizes his kitchen makes this a very interesting resource. The edition is produced by digital publisher Alta Editions, a division of Jesta Digital, a leading global provider of next-generation entertainment content and services. It is their first foray into the cookbook world, but they hope to expand their offering.
After playing around with Laurent Gras: My Provence for a little while, I certainly hope they do put out more of these.
