The annual Music City Festival & BBQ Championship returns to Riverfront Park on Aug. 24-25. This fun event features competitions for both KCBS and MBN barbecue competitive teams and also will entertain the crowds with some kick-ass music. Bands appearing this year include The Spring, David Ball, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the legendary Grand Funk Railroad.
If you want to do the Locomotion with this American band, then that would be some kind of wonderful. Buy your tickets here at the festival website. There will also be a hot wing eating competition sponsored by Hooters with the winner receiving a Big Green Egg smoker.
There will also be plenty of wing eating and cooking at the second annual Southern Hot Wing Festival on Sept. 29 in the Walk of Fame Park behind the Hilton downtown. The event runs from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. with a variety of entertainment and attractions to enjoy, including:
A gut-busting, all-you-can-eat Hot Wing Eating Contest.A silent auction.
Activities for the entire family (including a Kids Corner).
Two stages featuring live music from some of Music City’s most extraordinary artists and performers.
Proceeds from the Southern Hot Wing Festival benefit the Ronald McDonald House, so make your plans to help the clown out and enjoy over 200 pounds of wings!
