Library To Screen Weight of the Nation Documentary Episodes Featuring Nashville

Earlier this year, we learned that Nashville was going to be one of the featured cities in a new documentary from HBO titled Weight of the Nation. Specifically, the film focuses on Mayor Dean's efforts to focus on obesity through his encouragement to "Walk 100 Miles with the Mayor."

The four-part documentary examines more than just exercise, though. There are also segments about the dismal state of nutrition in school lunches and an exploration of the facts and myths that surround the controversial topic of obesity and the health issues that surround it.

The documentary premiered on HBO earlier in May, but if you missed it, or want to see it again with locally oriented introductions, the downtown public library is screening the third and fourth episodes of the series — the ones that feature the most Nashville footage. The screenings will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14, (Part 3, with an introduction by the Tennessee Obesity Task Force) and Tuesday, Sept. 12, (Part 4, with an introduction by the mayor’s office.)

If you can;t make it out or you'd rather watch from the comfort of your own office chair, you can also stream the series from HBO's website here.

Here's the trailer if you want to see what it's all about.
