Remember a few months ago when I told y'all about the Savor Nashville Chefs Challenge competition? I pointed out at the end that I can't remember an event with a higher ratio of really good-looking women who love to eat, to any sort of male at all.

Organizers of the event replied, "Then you oughtta see the Bartender Bash." Wait, what? A better ratio and you mix in booze? This year, the seventh annual Bartender Bash is being held at the Union Station Hotel on Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Outside the opportunity to meet lots of lovely people of either gender, the Bartender Bash is a really fun event that pits Nashville-area bartenders against each other in two categories: most creative cocktail and best Belvedere Red Martini. Event attendees will also have the opportunity to sample all the cocktails and vote for the "People's Choice Award."

The intrepid professional judges will have quite a task on their hands as they sample two drinks from each mixologist and select a winner while striving to keep upright in their chairs. The braves souls are are Evan Farmer, actor, author and host of CMT’s Top 20 Countdown; Marcia Masulla, Yelp Nashville community manager and co-founder of Nashville Fashion Week; Jim Reams, original booze writer at Drink Music City and former owner of Mothership BBQ with years of experience on both sides of hundreds of bars; and Beth Sachan, the award-winning blogger of Eat-Drink-Smile.com and senior marketing manager for Goo Goo Cluster.

The list of competing mixologists is still growing, but check the current roster to see if any of your favorites are participating:

Joy Brooks, Nero's Grill
Dennis Butler, 1808 Grille
Matt Pelc, Cantina Laredo
Adrian Pointer, The Palm
Kenneth Randolph, Tavern
Trey Ransom, Virago
Jordy Sadler, Prime 108
Jake Williams, Sambuca

Tickets are $25 in advance, available here, or $30 at the door. This 21-and-older event typically sells out. Valet parking is available for $5 per car, and cabs will be available.
