Playoffs Stress Chicken Wing Market

Bars and restaurants already know it: the chicken wing supply is tight this time of year.

Seems the football playoffs occasion a spike in finger food consumption. With Buffalo wings and other hot chicken wings at the top of the list.

It's not just millions of sports fans whipping up game-time snacks: wing restaurants like Wing Basket and Buffalo Wild Wings also tax the nation's strategic wing supply.

Anyway, as the party host or hostess, you should know that prices may be affected or you may have trouble locating wings, or enough wings. Unlike a decade ago, the silly rhyme, "Ain't no thang but a chicken wing" isn't true anymore. Come Superbowl Sunday, it's all about the wing.

Not for nothing, but the wings you can get at the Publix grab and go are actually decent. The key is timing which ain't too hard: See, I just happen to stop at PBX on Sunday's at, you know, 11:59AM, just in time for beer sales..... While you are killing that one minute, go to the grab and go and ask for a fresh batch of the hot wings, no bread. Do not get the ones sitting in the steam table, blech. It's like 20 pieces for 8 bucks. You can have my share: I od' on them weeks ago.

The wings I am getting are 400 Degrees Spicy Chicken wings. They are seemingly pricey, but nothing can beat Aqui Simpson's excellent wings and hot spice mix. The deal is though, I will have to buy them Saturday because 400 Degrees is closed Sunday. But, wings in the oven at 300F for a few minutes to re-heat, and the 400 Degrees wings will be perfect for game day!
