It's more than seasonal, more than creative: It's also historic. The first cooking class at the new Grow Local Kitchen at the Nashville Farmers' Market will be a gingerbread house session this Sunday, Dec. 18., from 2 to 4 p.m. Act fast and you can still get a spot.

Sam Tucker, pastry chef at Watermark, joins Laura Wilson of Grow Local Kitchen for a two-hour session making and decorating a gingerbread house. (You may remember the talented Tucker as Wilson's chef de cuisine when she was executive chef at Turnip Truck Urban Fare. Together they triumphed at the Scene's Iron Fork competition in April.) From the event announcement:

It's a festive afternoon of fun, fluffy icings, & learning tricks of the culinary construction trade appropriate for all ages. The class fee is $50/per family or groups of 5 and you must register to attend as space is limited. Holiday snacks and beverages provided. This class will be held inside the Market House in/near our NFM Grow Local Kitchen so we'll be hosting snow or shine!
