First things first: Thanks to all who entered the first Bites Gifty Giveaway. We asked you for the best dining or cooking advice you ever got on Bites. Smoothy Bobo first discovered the culinary marvel of Mitchell Deli on Bites, and Smoothy, you're the winner of The Brisket Book as well as being one darn fine commenter.

The hills and hollows of Bellevue are home to a new and much anticipated tenant this week: Bites learned that Athens Family Restaurant is open at Highway 70 and Old Harding Road. I always get the grilled fish — what about you?

In other restaurant-related news, a civic-minded Sunset Grill cut the ribbon yesterday on an electric vehicle charging station. That's great news for Hillsboro Village and for easing "range anxiety" that plagues EV owners.

Back in the kitchen, a fabulous idea accosted us. Why should every kitchen be outfitted with lesser-used items like an oyster knife, pressure canner, electric skillet or juicer when we could all share one? That's the idea behind a kitchen gear lending library like they did in Portland, Ore.? I mean, toy libraries, green bikes and car sharing all work — kitchen gear can be next.

That's all I got — what came as news to you this week?
