Here's how it works: They're giving away free cupcakes for canned goods, with a goal of gathering at least 300 cans for Second Harvest. From 7 to 9 a.m., they will be celebrating Sugar Rush Hour at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Commerce, so bring your cans there to swap them for a tasty treat. There will also be entertainment from the Music City Soul street dancers, and patrons are invited to join in recording the new Cupcake Collection jingle. (Expect no royalties from that one.) Look for the Cupcake Bus parked downtown in front of the AT&T building — and you are encouraged to wear orange to show support for the Collection and their bright corporate color.
At 10 a.m., the party moves uptown to Cupcake Collection's main location at 1213 Sixth Ave. N. Until closing (5:30 p.m.), you'll still be able to swap cans for cakes. May I suggest the sweet potato flavor. It's outrageous.
So here's the recap. Wear orange. Head downtown or uptown to make a donation to Second Harvest and receive a free cupcake. Help out with the jingle singing. Oh, and they want you to tweet "I got a sugar rush with the Sugar Queen @cupcaketweets." Dang, this is getting more complicated than a trip to Chuck E. Cheese.
But for great cupcakes and a good cause, it's worth the effort. Congrats to the Cupcake Collection, and have fun tomorrow.
