Open Thread First Bites, Meet Weekly Open Thread

I previewed two sandwiches from the upcoming Sloco: sorghum-baked ham, and vegetable with herbed tofu spread, both on homemade bread. The chewy bread and distinctive flavors worked beautifully washed down with Jackalope Jazz Honkey Donkey-weizen on my first visit to Jackalope.
Ticked the box on Nothing Bundt Cakes, newly open on White Bridge Road, where I bought lemon and white chocolate raspberry bundt cakes. Think of them as giant cupcakes that you eat with a fork (but only if people are watching).
More firsts: the inaugural Music City Hot Wing Festival, a trip to Back Alley Diner downtown, a peek at the into the nearly complete Fleet Street Pub: It was like being on the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria of Nashville foodstuffs.
