It's been a while since we've broken any frozen-yogurt news, but there's apparently still some momentum in the froyo juggernaut. As I reported today in my Food Biz column in the Nashville Post section in the print edition of The City Paper, the national froyo chain Red Mango is coming to Nashville.

Red Mango, which started in Los Angeles and is now headquartered in Dallas, has some 130 locations, but none so far in Tennessee. The company just awarded a Nashville franchise to local restaurant veteran Farzin Ferdowsi, who runs more than 80 Taco Bell locations around the Southeast through Management Resources Co.

No planned location has been revealed, but we hear a deal may be in the works for a high-profile spot in Midtown.

Red Mango is best-known not for its mango flavor (which it only recently introduced), but for its pomegranate version. The company teamed up with POM Wonderful to create that one. Red Mango has around 40 flavors total. The company also sells smoothies, made-to-order fruit parfaits and probiotic iced teas.
