Keepin' It Real Local — and Family Style — at F. Scott's

F. Scott's is bringing its suave finesse to regional bounty with a really different kind of dinner.

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, F. Scott's is hosting "Locally Grown," a dinner celebrating Tennessee and Kentucky farmers, distillers, brewers, wine makers and more.

Here's a twist: The seating will be "family style," with big community tables with one host farmer at each table to talk about the farming life. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet the folks who "grewed it and brewed it" and learn about the miraculous process that brings food to the table.

And the food is sure to be sublime. What a pleasure to be inspired by a cucumber and grilled red onion salad with Champagne vinaigrette, fresh corn cakes, bell pepper and creme fraiche and thrilled by goat-cheese cheesecake in a Marcona cookie crust with smoked cocoa nibs and blackberry coulis.

Happy hour, sorry, the reception begins with local companies Prichard's, Corsair, Jack Daniel's, Arrington Vineyards, Chateau Ross and Yazoo purveying wines, beers and spirits, so things should get off to a lively start. Arrington wines will be featured, or you can buy other bottles.

Other farmers/suppliers include Farmer Deb, Farmer Dave and Farmer Hap, Bonnie Blue, Howell Farms, Bentons, Wedge Oak Farm, Emerald Glen, Sweetwater Valley, Jolly Barnyard, and Olive and Sinclair Chocolates.
