Anyone who has ever wanted to open a pub probably has a million questions for someone who's done it, from the equipment to the location to staffing and all the details that go into it.

It's a Pub is a blog chronicling the efforts of software engineer (and onetime reporter) Glenn Henderson and his buddy Ed as they embark on their adventure in opening a pub in Nashville. They're calling it Fleet Street Pub, and promising "Great food -— from lunch through late-night —- along with the finest pub games and fun."
They began their quest by touring Mulligan's Pub on Second Avenue, in which I had plenty of fun pints over the years, and which was named Best Place to Throw Darts just last fall in this very publication, but alas, closed in December due to circumstances beyond the owners' control.
Between the landlord and conditions at the site, it just wouldn't work. But they've found a fantastic spot they like just as much — the old Parco Cafe in Printers Alley. And now they have set a tentative menu of basic English-inspired pub eats. Henderson's first employee is a chef, as he wanted to serve real, homemade food.
Demolition is mostly complete, the rebuild will begin soon, and they're deciding on a beer selection right now. Cooler space limits him to six or eight taps, so if there's a huge public outcry for a particular flavor, speak now.
Go here to read four short blog posts that describe the process. And you know, contribute your thoughts — it's not just his project. He wants feedback and customers.

I was just talking with someone the other day about how much we needed a British pub! So glad it's coming to fruition!
That was Glenn's point too. He started out thinking Irish, then realized that the market "niche" was a British pub, which we don't have since Sherlock Holmes closed.
Alas, the sad day at Sherlock Holmes happened years prior on a night in August 1994, when the original owners began their slow death by partner-cide. The truth won out, as the last ones standing were the least after all.
Sadder still is to think there are those who only knew that place in its last carnation and not the welcoming place for a friendly chat over a pint and good food that it started out as. At least the friendships created there have outlived the mean greediness that took over. Its lasting legacy is the bitch named Karma.
I wish any pub luck in this location - seems a bad place to engender a good 'session' or feel like a neighborhood gathering place, but stranger things have happened. Please have Boddington's on tap !!
