Amerigo has a full summer of events planned at both their West End and Cool Springs locations to educate your palate and delight your belly. I'll try to remind you about the events in upcoming Wandering Wino columns on Fridays, but you might want to go ahead and mark your calendar now for a summer's worth of fun.
Starting at the West End location, Amerigo will be holding regular wine tastings every other Wednesday starting today, from 6 to 8 p.m. For the first week, they'll be taking students on a tour of the Italian wine regions featuring wines from Piemonte to Sicily, the football-shaped island off Italy's boot. Your $15 gets you healthy pours of four wines and appetizers from Chef Hrant Arakelian.
Beginning next Monday, June 6, Amerigo West End will have beer tastings every other Monday on alternating weeks from the wine tastings. The cost and format are the same as for the vino, and no reservations are necessary for any of the events. If you choose to stay for dinner afterwards, you'll get 20 percent off your dinner tab. You can't beat that deal with a fork!
Diners who prefer the Cool Springs location, fear not. They will be presenting the same wine tastings as West End on alternating Tuesdays, starting on June 7.
Instead of just concentrating on beer, Amerigo West End will be having rotating "spirit tastings." These events will be held every other Monday starting June 13.
If you're looking for a dining bargain at Amerigo that feeds your inner locavore, you might consider one of the farmers' market dinners that both locations will be holding featuring five-course dinners created using the freshest ingredients provided by local farmers. Wine pairings will be included and the whole shebang is just $35 per person. You will want to call for reservations for these events.
At West End, the farmers' market dinners are planned for June 7, July 12 and Aug. 9. Cool Springs' dinners will be held June 23, July 21 and Aug. 18. Hope to see you at some of these events this summer. (I'll be looking for a ride home. ...)
