Posted By on Fri, May 13, 2011 at 11:43 AM

Don't let the date on the calendar frighten you. This is a good Friday, because your Wandering Wino has a snootful of cool wine tasting events to tell you about.

First off is the Taste of Williamson at CoolSprings Galleria 7 to 9 p.m. this Sunday, May 15. For one night only, the area's best chefs unite to raise money for United Way of Williamson County and its partner agencies. Tickets are $35 each in advance and $40 at the door. From the invite:

Vanderbilt University Medical Center presents Taste of Williamson at CoolSprings Galleria, featuring samples of favorite creations from restaurants, caterers and hotels. Ticketholders will meet chefs, sip their favorite beverage, taste foods and enjoy musical entertainment as they stroll from station to station.

For a list of the participating restaurants and their menus, visit the event website.

Proceeds from this event support programs that are creating opportunities for a better life for all in Williamson County. For additional information, please contact United Way of Williamson County at 771-2312.

Hoyt Hill of Village Wines asked me to let you know that Gary White of Pali Vineyards is producing what are arguably the finest Pinot Noirs in California and Oregon today. His 2008 Durell Vineyard Pinot Noir was rated 96 points by Wine Spectator. Hoyt is planning a wonderful dinner featuring Gary's wines and chef Sal Avila's cuisine at 360 Bistro at 6:30 p.m. this Tuesday, May 17. The cost is only $45 plus tax and gratuity. Carrington recently raved about Chef Avila's food, so it should definitely be worth checking out.

Finally, Grace's Plaza Wine and Spirits is teaming up with Rumors Wine & Art Bar in 12South for a "He Said Beer/She Said Wine" tasting next Thursday, May 19, from 6 to 9 p.m.

In an attempt to schedule an ongoing debate in many households, they will be pairing three different wines and beers with an assortment of artisan cheeses to see which beverage really does go better with food. You can be the judge.

$20 per person ($25 per person at the door)

Until next week, don't walk under any ladders.
