Wandering Wino: Band of Boozers Edition

Posted by on Fri, May 6, 2011 at 10:31 AM

Earlier this week, we filled you in on the upcoming Yelp Drinks Week and specifically the "Band of Boozers" march and party happening this Tuesday, May 10. But I don't think I could ever describe the event more eloquently than the video below.

The gathering starts at Yazoo Brewing Co. in the Gulch 5-6 p.m.; marchers will walk to Mercy Lounge (approximately half a mile) for the Yelp Drinks Celebration Party that kicks off at 6:30.

And like the video says, drink passionately but responsibly!

If you prefer to be a little more sedate in your consumption and are willing to plan ahead a couple months, Midtown Wine and Spirits is offering a deal on a great event for a very worthy cause.

Wine & Swine, a Circle of Hope event benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, has become one of Nashville’s hottest summer fundraising events, and tickets are now on sale for the Third Annual Wine & Swine just around the corner.

If you purchase your tickets today, Friday, May 6, only, you can save yourself $10 on admission.

What: Wine tasting, silent auction and live music.
When: Friday, July 8, 7-10 p.m.
Where: Belle Meade Plantation
$50/person if you buy today (otherwise $60/person)

Go here to get your tickets and click "Register." From the official invite:

We at Midtown Wine & Spirits are proud to serve as the prime sponsor for such a wonderful event. This will be an amazing opportunity to taste more than 60 wines from around the world while enjoying delicious pork-based dishes from some of Nashville's best restaurants. Live entertainment will be provided, so be sure to invite all your friends!

Vital research in the fight against CF is being done right here in our community — Vanderbilt University Medical Center houses the Cystic Fibrosis Care Centers for children and adults. So the money we raise here stays here but benefits the 30,000 CF Patients across the country!

This Saturday, May 7, is Derby Day, so it's time for the Belle Meade Plantation's Third Annual Kentucky Derby Party from 3 to 6 p.m.

Enjoy the ambiance of Churchill Downs without leaving Nashville at Belle Meade Plantation's Kentucky Derby Party on May 7!

Traditional Derby food and drinks (open bar)

Place your bets on the races (fun money, of course)

Sip Mint Juleps and the finest Kentucky bourbons and Tennessee whiskeys.

All while watching the races on the big screens!

Tickets are $100 per person. Click Here for Tickets

If you still have any gas in your tank after the Derby, you can head over to Green Hills for the Second Annual Hope in the Hills on the Rooftop of Macke's (4009 Hillsboro Pike Suite 212) starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Tickets are $65 online/$75 at the door and benefit Linda's Hope.

Last year's event photo album looks like it was a hoot.

Finally, mark your calendar for May 17 at 6:30 p.m. when the Palm Restaurant downtown has scheduled quite a spectacular wine dinner featuring the wines of Robert Fisher. The five-course meal,
which is $125 per person exclusive of tax and gratuity, will feature wine pairings with each course presented by Robert Fisher, general manager of Fisher Vineyards. The dinner is discounted to $95 per person exclusive for members of The Palm’s 837 Club. Reservations are required, so please contact Paige Dixon at 782-3193 or pdixon@thepalm.com.
