The Kevin Carter Foundation and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts will co-host the 10th annual Waiting for Wishes Celebrity Waiter's Dinner on Tuesday, April 12, at The Palm downtown starting at 6:30 p.m. Guests are treated to autographs and once-in-a-lifetime moments with their favorite country stars and athletes, all while enjoying The Palm's famous surf-and-turf dinner and drinks.
For the tenth iteration of the event, Carter has put together a special guest list of celebrity waiters: DeMarcus' fellow Rascal Flatter Joe Don Rooney, Olympic skater Scott Hamilton, former Titans Eddie George, Craig Hentrich, Derrick Mason and Brad Hopkins and some of his other NFL friends who are retired or still currently in the league (albeit locked out) including Vonnie Holiday, Derrick Brooks and Eric Winston.
In the past the event has tended to get a little silly as patrons offer donations in return for getting grown men to sing their colleges' fight songs or even worse for ex-Gator Carter, "Rocky Top." For the right price, I'll bet you can talk Hentrich into punting a piece of cheesecake over the big sign in front of the Bridgestone Arena. Make sure to post it to YouTube for me since I can't afford the $500/person donation to attend.
