Here's how I can tell spring is coming: I see fewer of these on the ground.

Winter is lone-black-glove season in the city. People pull off a glove to get out keys or change, or to fumble with iPod settings. The glove falls on the ground, and that's why Nashville's winter landscape is littered with single black gloves and mittens.

It isn't just Nashville — there were so many stray gloves in England that I got into the habit of collecting them, pairing them, and eventually giving them to crisis shelters. So many that a BBC radio show did a story about me and my single glove collection.

Anyway, there are fewer lonely gloves now — because it's spring, and even hands want to be in the sunshine. I'm pretty excited that Bobbie's Dairy Dip has reopened, and psyched to be outside at Coco's Italian Market, 3 Crow, Yazoo and Bongo Java.

I'm excited for spring menus at Miel, Acorn, Firefly, Flyte and F. Scott's. And it's time to sign up for CSA shares!

What has you excited about spring? And what's on your radar this week and next?
