Beer & Bacon Tuesdays at Cabana

Posted By on Tue, Mar 8, 2011 at 5:54 AM

Sometimes it seems like the food blogs obsession with bacon know no bounds. Present company definitely included. However, in some cases the infatuation is deserved. A friend of mine wrote an editorial for the college newspaper about things that people won't readily admit. The bullet point that still resonates to me read, "When will people finally admit that bacon tastes good? Damned good!" And this was in 1989, so he was well ahead of his time.

Luckily, the staff at Cabana is more than willing to let their pork flag fly, and they wave it proudly on Tuesday as part of their new "Beer and Bacon" menu. You should click on the image over there on the right for the full view, but highlights include a Benton's Bacon Manhattan that may well have been cribbed from the Patterson House's menu, but (according to Google Maps) does save me 1.2 miles of staggering home. And that's as the crow flies. Actual walking distance may vary.

If you prefer spicy or sweet, give the Bacon Bloody Mary or the Bacon Chocolate Martini a try. The menu is only available on Tuesdays from 4 to 10 p.m., so plan your calendar accordingly. Just remember to leave Wilbur at home.
