DD and I corrected that last week on our drive back from downtown, where we saw the TEA rally, so we pretended like we'd attended.
We ordered the iron-grilled club sandwich ($3.59) and chicken tender basket (about $7.50 with drink). All the food was competently cooked — fries were crisp, tenders juicy inside and crunchy outside.
The sandwich was well-compacted so nothing fell out. Its ingredients were in the right proportions, it wasn't ridiculously huge or skimpy, and condiments were in the right amount.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the food, and it qualifies as good, if a little lackluster in the personality department. In that way, it reminded me of the food served at fairs, and swim clubs and the old Vandyland. We split a Moolatte for dessert. I was hoping it would be like an affogato, but it's really just a coffee Blizzard, which was fine, especially at $3.50.
If I were at DQ more often, I would have known about Sweet Deal, a twofer-threefer deal that offers any two of selected menu items for $3, three items for $4 and four items for $5.
So there you have it. My takeaway: Take a chance on an unknown, especially when the price is low.
