Don't ever let it be said that the parishioners at Christ the King don't know how to have a good time. This Saturday night they're throwing a party and you're invited. The menu looks enticing and there will be Cajun music and swing dancing lessons, so you'll have an opportunity to work off dinner.

Here are the details of The Crown Affair:

Event tickets are $35 each and include one drink ticket. The Parish Hall doors open at 6 p.m. with a festive cocktail hour and silent auction. You won’t want to miss the swing dance lesson with Brian Keating-Rendon. Live music with Les Kerr & The Bayou Band. Chef Greg Anderson will prepare a delicious dinner for us of Fresh Field Greens, Sautéed Fresh Green Beans with Garlic and White Wine, Roasted Red Bliss Potatoes with Fresh Thyme and Lavender, A Duet of Grilled Chicken Breast with Fresh Chimichurri and Carved Beef Tenderloin with a Boursin Cabernet Sauce. Cash bars will feature “The Crown Jewel” signature drink. And get ready to bid in our fabulous silent and live auctions.

The attire is Date-Night Casual. Invite your friends and join us for a night that will be long remembered. Support your school and have a great evening too. Unlike previous years, all reservations for event are pre-sale, so contact Kelley McLaughlin at 481-1122 as soon as possible for tickets and information. No tickets will be issued. Names will be listed at the door.

There will also be a Valentine-themed dessert competition with entries from area bakeries competing for the top award. The participating bakers are Darlene's Kakes, Dessert Designs, Sweet N Sassy Bakery, The Picnic Café, Sparkle Cupcake Company and Krispy Kreme.

The judges will be Titans' linebackers coach Dave McGinnis, Chris Clark and the author of this post (who must have been chosen after an exhaustive scraping of the bottom of the organizers' Rolodexes.) The winning entry will be sold at the live auction, so we'll pick something good for y'all. Put on your "date-night casual" clothes and head on down to the parish hall. You'll be helping Christ the King School provide much-needed art and music scholarships, training for their teachers, upgraded technology in their classrooms and computer lab and overall support of their operating budget.
