The 2 Chefs/2 Visions dinner takes place at Myint’s excellent restaurant Cha Chah, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
Bites readers know Arnold’s story well: Son of Nashville restaurant pioneer Patti Myint of International Market, he had a career as a professional ice skater before heading to culinary school in New York. Armed with that degree, plus years in the family restaurant business and a flair for cocktails and throwing exciting events, he opened PM, Cha Chah and Suzy Wong’s House of Yum.
His restaurant reputation and winning personality got Arnold cast on Top Chef (where we all know he was robbed of victory by an unfortunate early round partnership with a less-focused contestant).
Bloom also exited way too early in Top Chef’s grueling, almost arbitrary proceedings; Myint and Bloom, another young, feisty Southern chef (after training at the Culinary Institute of America she traveled south to make her name in several Atlanta restaurants, most recently Ray’s Killer Creek), probably share some esprit de guerre after the experience.
The two will both express their artistry at the benefit dinner, which includes an appetizer, a main course and a dessert from each chef, along with two drinks. (Cha Chah is at 2013 Belmont Blvd., 298-1430.)
Tickets are $75, and proceeds benefit Nashville Pride, a longtime civic group that aims to “maintain a sense of community and awareness of, about and for gay lesbian bisexual transgender people and culture throughout Middle Tennessee.”
Buy tickets at the Nashville Pride site. Among the organization’s projects is a terrific annual event, the Nashville Pride Festival. This year represents the 23rd annual fest, set for June 18 in Riverfront Park and featuring two stages hosting local and national acts, along with more than 100 vendors from around the Midstate area.
