Off we go. But first, we'll pass along what we were told over the phone: The old location is closed, which nobody in the neighborhood could possibly be happy about. (A situation with the landlord is evidently the reason for the move.) The new one has been open since Tuesday, though, and is steadily picking up business. They're keeping things low-key for now, since they want the place to be running smoothly before the deluge begins.
But if, like me, you can't put off another second the idea of fried chicken glistening a sultry demon-red just moments away — how long is this gonna take to type, anyway? — owner Aqui Simpson has the new location open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 11 a.m. to midnight. If that goes well, Simpson hopes to expand to even more late hours.
This is the kind of hot item we live for. Call 244-4467 for more details. H/T: Kay.
UPDATE: Just to let you know: 400 Degrees doesn't accept debit cards. In fact, it's cash only. They (apologetically and very kindly) directed me to an ATM at the Hampton Inn a block away, but the doors were locked to anyone without a hotel key. So remember to bring cash. On the bright side: Unlike the old location, the new one has bathrooms and plenty of seats.

If I lived or worked near Clarskville Highway, I might start to take this personally. First Peter Chinn's crossed the DMZ to become South Korean tacos and 400 Degrees has flown the coop.
Of course, I am selfishly pleased. Hopefully something new will spring up near MetroCenter. They are at least getting the Grille Cheese truck there occasionally.
Oh thank goodness there's something else in that little development. I know the businesses in the area are grateful.
Went the other day. The sterile food-court vibe will take some getting used to, but the good news is that there are bathrooms and plenty of room for folks to sit down. As for the chicken, it remains top-notch: it has a crisper crust than Prince's, and the 200-degree sandwich, reddish-black with pepper, is as hot as many customers should ever think of daring.
May try the pork chop next time.
