Unfortunately, we weren’t specific enough in our praise to some colleagues in the newsroom, who ventured to the Madison eatery and returned kvetching about the cafe con leche, which they likened to sickly sweet cappuccino.
While we’re not exactly sure what we drank — our coffee service arrived unsolicited — we know it wasn’t that. Ours was delicious. Using process of elimination on the menu, we deduce that we sipped coladas.
In any case, our delicate demitasse cups contained about two slurps of thick Cuban espresso with an impressive lather of crema on top and a shameless dose of sugar. Just perfect for reinvigorating us after a generous meal of ropa vieja, plantains and flan.
(Sorry for the bum steer, Scenesters. Next time, the coffee’s on us.)
