As Tom T. Hall sang, I like beer. It usually does make me a jolly good, albeit fatter, fellow. But the folks at Fido and their partners at Lipman Brothers invite you to take your affection up a notch with their "I Love Beer!" tasting event next Wednesday Oct. 20t at 7 p.m. From the official invite:

Your love for beer will grow as we taste six beers accompanied by light food from Fido.
Victory Golden Monkey
BBC Bourbon Barrel Stout
Terrapin Hop Karma
Point Cascade Pale Ale
Stone Levitation Ale
Atwater Vanilla Java Porter

$15 per person, plus tax and tip

RSVP: events@fidocafe.com

Rumours East is teaming up with the president of the local Slow Food chapter, Robin Riddell, at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17 for a Fall Wine and Dine.

Reservations required, so call 262-5346. This menu looks like a winner:

Apricot Stilton cheese plate
Shrimp 'n' grits

Autumn salad
or
Butternut squash soup with goat cheese crostini

Rustic herb-roasted chicken
or
Salmon with root vegetables

Chocolate torte with fresh berries

It definitely sounds like a meal you won't want to rush through.

Finally this week, the Renaissance and Marriott Hotels of Nashville are proud to announce the inaugural Cheers 4 Children event, a wine tasting and silent auction benefiting Children's Miracle Network and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
