You can find all of the details and the submission form at the contest website, but here are the basics:
• Deadline for submissions: 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14
• You can submit up to five photos, taken since Sept. 30, 2009. Participants must live in, and photos must be taken in, one of the following counties: Davidson, Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner, Robertson, Dickson, or Cheatham.
• The top 30 photos will be published in the Nov. 11 issue of the Scene, and will be featured in a gallery show at the Oasis Center on Nov. 10. The top three photos will win prizes. Two of the winners will be chosen by judges, and one will be selected by reader voting, which will begin online Oct. 25.
• IMPORTANT: If any recognizable public figure is in the photo (musician, actor, politician), there must be a signed photo release. However, crowd shots, street scenes, etc., are acceptable without releases.
Now here's a little quiz to put you in the right frame of mind, and to help acquaint you with the contest rules and pertinent aesthetic considerations: What are two reasons why the photo shown below should NOT be submitted to the Nashville Scene Photo Contest? (Answers after the jump.)

Answers
Reason 1: Unless extreme seismic activity has placed Middle Tennessee on the coast of either the Atlantic or Pacific oceans, this photograph was not taken in one of the eligible counties.
Reason 2: It is not a good photograph.
