Very flattering that we were selected over Georgia, Arizona and Virginia, which enacted similar laws. And it's not the first time we've attracted national attention with our seductive combination of firearms and spirits — Stephen Colbert gave us the nod last year.
But what I want to focus on is the bars visited by the reporter. There's Past Perfect, where the interviewee is eating the steak sandwich (good choice!), Sam's in Hillsboro Village (Coors Light) and Bobby's Idle Hour (unnamed beer).
I'd like to personally thank Times reporter Malcolm Gay for moving beyond the usual selection of Tootsie's and Robert's to make a more thoughtful selection of watering holes, and with more geographic diversity, too. In fact, he selected places whose patrons might actually include more residents than visitors.
As good a selection as he made, where else could he have gone for a real taste of the guns-in-bars debate?
