From Annatto to Zedoary: Take the Obscure Spices Quiz

The Mental Floss blog has compiled a weird quiz that's just my cup of sassafras tea: the Obscure Spices Quiz.

Sadly, I scored only 7 out of 11. I bet other Bitesters can do better. But first, a pep rally. Repeat "Peter Piper picked a peck of pink peppercorns" 10 times fast.

(Tip of the hat to my colleague Steve Haruch, who scored 6. Not bad for a music guy.)

Nine. Top that! Screw you, black cumin.

Ouch. Four. In my defense, I'm a fan of bland-ish food.

Aargh. Who knew "grains of paradise" were "more familiar" than zedoary? Six out of 10.

I thought "grains of paradise" was something else! I'll take "not bad for a music guy," though.
