Not imbibed together, of course ... but there sure are a lot of tastings of either wine or bourbon planned for the next couple of weeks. And you are the lucky ones who can find out about all of them in one place. Let's start with the bourbon.

I don't know about you, but when I think about bourbon, I think of Italian food. All kidding aside, I know from personal (painful) experience that the folks at Amerigo on West End looooove their bourbon. And they'e not afraid to share it.

On Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 6-8 p.m., they are having a tasting of four award-winning Kentucky bourbons. You can enjoy live music and bourbon samples, paired with Chef Hrant's featured appetizers for just $13 per person. And, be sure to mention you saw this on Bites to receive a special fifth sample for free. Reservations are not necessary.

Here's what they're pulling from the private stash:
(OK, it's really just behind the bar)

Buffalo Trace
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

W.L. Weller 12-Year-Old
90-proof "Wheated" Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Elmer T. Lee
90-proof "Rye Recipe" Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Eagle Rare Single Barrel 10-Year-Old
90-proof "Rye Recipe" Kentucky Straight Bourbon

They wouldn't tell me what the mystery sample will be. I guess that's why it's a mystery.

Here's a neat opportunity coming next week. New Belgium Brewery has an outdoor independent film/ beer tasting event that is traveling around to select cities in the U.S. Nashville happens to be one of the lucky locations. Admission to the event is free. 100 percent of the beer sales from the event will be donated to SoundForest.org. Funds raised will help purchase and install much needed bike racks around town and plant some more trees, too.

They'll be setting up a giant outdoor movie theater at Public Square Park. That's in front of the courthouse downtown. You know, where you have to eat lunch when you're on jury duty.

The event will be Friday, Sept. 3, starting a 6 p.m.. They'll be selling 18 craft beers with on-site food from 12 South Taproom and Las Paletas. Films begin at sundown

Admission is FREE! All ages welcome.

More info at www.soundforest.org

A giant movie screen will be set up in Public Square Park downtown (same location as LIVE ON THE GREEN). The projector will begin its magic at sundown. What’s showing? A compilation of short films submitted to New Belgium Brewery.

In honor of this weekend's l'Ete du Vin wine auction, Hoyt Hill at Village Wines is making a very gracious offer. If you mention l'Ete du Vin, The Nashville Wine Auction, the fight against cancer, Gilda's Club of Nashville or Camp Horizon in the store this weekend, Hoyt will donate 5 percent of your purchase to the l'Ete du Vin Wine Auction Saturday night.

Mr. Pink, can I please borrow the SouthComm Visa for a few minutes?

Wow -- I love Weller, and you hardly ever see it in a tasting line-up. Good job, Amerigo.

Been seeing signs at all the bike shops for the soundforest event. Sounds pretty much like my cuppa.

I *crossmyfingers* might ACTUALLY be able to go to the event on Wednesday night. I won't know for sure yet, but I'm really excited if I do get to go. I LOVE BOURBON, and I LOVE AMERIGO!
