I'll admit it. I probably pay more attention to Giada de Laurentiis than I do other celebrichefs of her skill level. But she's just such a freak of nature with that enormous grinning melon (singular, not plural, ya deviated preverts) perched on top of that stick-like figure, she looks like a caramel apple. Well, a caramel apple garnished with some olives on the stick. Yeah, I'm weak. I couldn't avoid going there...

(Female editor's note: Yes, we're giving Chris leeway to drool over Giada's physical attributes. But it works both ways. I personally wish Naked Chef Jamie Oliver actually cooked naked.)

Beyond Giada's superficial gifts, she occasionally knows what she's talking about and presents it in simple terms that most people who don't own a winery, vineyard or restaurant can relate to. She has teamed up with one of Gallo's sub-labels, Bella Serra, to create a simple menu of summer recipes that pair with the typical summer favorites wines: Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Chianti.

Rather than try to figure out the perfect match for each varietal and vintage, she encourages home chefs to grab onto one or two flavors or ingredients that work out of these recipes. Cling to the small details of these combinations and then feel free to experiment to your heart's content. Even if every element of your menu doesn't match perfectly with the wine you serve, at least some of the nuances are sure to work.

Be brave. Open extra bottles so that at least one of them will be a real hit. If you invite enough friends over, everyone's sure to like at least one of your creations!
