Hearing the story, another friend confessed her frustrating searches for the non-canned sauerkraut. Refrigerated specialty produce, like where the tofu sometimes lives? Near the sausage, the natural partner of sauerkraut? In the deli, with other sandwich-y items?
I admit chiming in: Depending on the grocery store, you can either walk straight to the bagel chips or miss major life events while you hunt for them.
Usually, it depends on floor plan and layout decisions made further up the chain. For some reason, the layout at Harris-Teeter seems intuitive to me, and I can usually guess where things are. Completely the opposite at the Belle Meade Kroger, where a simple hunt for pizza sauce involved myself, an employee and another employee summoned for help.
