Wine Wednesday: Apparently Bottles Float Edition

Like many Nashvillagers, I watched transfixed while Channel 4 broadcast the dramatic rescues from the middle of Harding Road in front of the Belle Meade Kroger and showed the flooded parking lot. Of course, being the wino that I am, my immediate thought was, "Oh crap. I wonder what happened to Nashville Wine and Spirits?!"

If you've visited that store before, you know that it was located in a subterranean vault under the the shopping center tucked under a parking structure. Sure enough, the wine shop was flooded to the top of the front door, and cases of liquor and wine could be seen bobbing around the lot behind Kroger. I'm sure it made for quite the Cinco de Mayo fiesta for some lucky survivors downstream.

Against all odds, Nashville Wine and Spirits has reopened only a month later in the space directly above their former location, a storefront that previously housed Crystal Gayle's Crystal Shop. (Apparently, Crystal is still drying her hair after the flood.)

These guys have always had a nice little wine store and could really use your business right now as they get back on their feet, hopefully above the 100-year flood line. Drop in and check out their new digs and wish them luck. Tell them Bites sent you.
