A reception starts at 6:30 with Nova Scotia Lobster Shooters, whiskey-infused tomato gazpacho, Yukon Gold Potato Skins and Chipotle Chili Country BBQ Rolls.
The menu looks amazing:
Old No. 7 Glazed Pork Belly Appetizer — sweet corn, ham hock bread pudding
Barrel Smoked Duck Breast Salad — frisee lettuce, chanterelle mushrooms, fried pecans, manchego cheese, pommery mustard vinaigrette
Dry Aged New York Strip Steak, 12-ounce — whiskey compound butter served with vanilla scented mashed potatoes and sweet and sour green beans
Gentleman Jack and Cola Float - homemade caramel sauce, vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream
I've been lucky enough to attend a tasting hosted by Jeff Norman before. He is a handsome, personable guy with a doctorate in chemistry. One would have to imagine that he must be pretty popular in Lynchburg, a town of 361 inhabitants. Someone in the audience at the tasting I was at asked him, "Since you have your doctorate, do you prefer to be called Doctor?"
Jeff gave his best "aw shucks" look and answered, "Nope. I prefer Doctor Master Taster." Now THAT's something to aspire to.
