Wandering Wino-Drinko de Mayo Edition

Margaritas aren't the only way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Try a little jugo de uvas at some of these upcoming wine tastings.

The Wine Loft in the Gulch is partnering with "I Run for the Party" for the First Annual Cinco in the Gulch Block Party. They will host a booth with fun games, wine trivia and a wine basket giveaway. The fun begins May 1 at 3 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m.

The Wine Loft will also host an on-site Patio Party at their brand new patio, fully furnished with an outdoor lounge feel, 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. So go party with them this coming Saturday.

The Wine Loft is at 503 12th Ave. S. in The Gulch.

Woodland Wine Merchant is hosting a Spring Vegetarian Dinner at Marché on Wednesday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m. Sign up early as their past vegetarian wine dinners have been among their most popular events.

Wednesday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m., $40 per person; call 262-1111 for reservations.

Village Wines is holding consecutive wine tastings next week in West Nashville for your drinking pleasure:

Wednesday, May 5, 6 p.m., at 360 Bistro — The Rhone Style wines of Villa Creek in Paso Robles with owner/winemaker Chris Cherry

Thursday, May 6, 6 p.m. at 360 Bistro — Martinelli Cellars Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel with Juliana Martinelli

Both tastings are only $10 per person with a 10% discount on your food if you stay for dinner. Call 383-2102 for reservations.

The Wine Chap, which is about to celebrate its first anniversary as one of Nashville's hot new wine shops, invites you to a wine tasting, Tuesday May 4 at 6 p.m, also at 360 Bistro. They think you'll enjoy tasting these highly respected Zinfandels from "Four Vines" in Paso Robles. Winemaker Christian Tietje will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Call 353-5604 to make your reservations. $15/person.

Finally, J. Barleycorn Wine and Spirits invites you to "Celebrate Spring" at a Wine & Dine Dinner, 6 p.m. Sunday, May 2 at Rumours East, 1112 Woodland St.

Appetizer:
Spicy tuna with romesco sauce and brioche

Starter:
Roasted red pepper fennel soup
or
Spanish salad of cucumbers, watermelon, lemon grass oil, sesame seed, cilantro, with arugula

Entrées: (choice of one)
Spanish Paella with chicken, chorizo, mussels, shrimp and swordfish
or
Almond-encrusted chicken with a Parmesan mushroom risotto served with asparagus and a pomegranate molasses reduction

Dessert:
Flan with Dolce Dulce Sauce, berries and sprig of mint

The meal will be paired with five delicious wines.

Reservations required as seating is limited; $50/person (excluding tax and gratuity)
